Sternocleidomastoid Muscle

Sternocleidomastoid: Often called SCM for short (!)

SCM attaches from two points at the top of your chest:
1) the top of your sternum (breastbone)
2) the edge of your collarbone.

It then extends up and attaches to the bone just behind your ear!
SCM is on either side of your neck and moves your neck in 3 ways:
a) rotating to the opposite direction
b) neck flexion (looking down)
c) side-flexing (ear to shoulder)

If you want to see it on yourself, find a mirror and simply turn your head the opposite way and it'll pop right out! (see photo above!)
