Temporalis Muscle

TEMPORALIS MUSCLE - where is it located? How to contract this muscle and how to stretch it!

Temporalis is one of our main  muscles of mastication (a chewing muscle!)
It is located on both  sides of our head and attaches under your cheekbone
onto your jaw! To remember where this muscle is located, just think "temple"/temporalis (!)

Wanna feel it? : place your peace fingers gently on your temple. Now, clench your teeth/jaw - you should feel temporalis gently contract into your fingers!

Clenching or grinding your teeth due to stress can create tension in this muscle.
Tension in temporalis can also contribute to headaches.

Stretch it by opening your jaw wide and hold for 15-30 seconds.

"Temporalis is a hidden area of tension that I always make sure to include when massaging
the head and neck! Show your temporalis some love today!"
